Welcome by the President, Prof. Andreas Katsambas. In 1996 the 5th EADV Annual Congress was held in Lisbon – Portugal. Some 15 years later, the EADV and its expanded family of dermatologist, returns with greater strength and enthusiasm for yet another memorable event. The EADV has come a long way since 1996 when it last visited Lisbon and its congresses have also developed with time – always for the better. Hence, with the collaborative support of the EADV Scientific Committee, Congress President Antonio Picoto and his Local Organising Committee have established a scientific program which will attract an audience in all areas of interest and expertise.

In bringing together the old with the new, the ‘Palacio dos Congressos’ will be the main meeting point during four days of scientific happenings and events. Aside from the educational aspect of the Congress is also the social feature, which I am sure all who attend will enjoy a unique experience.

Situated on the southwestern coast of Portugal, Lisbon is an ideal destination, which will captivate its visitors with its diverse attractions, history and rich culture that is has to offer. Getting lost is the narrow streets is a good way see and learn about this historic city and the large variety of gastronomical tastes is not to be missed!
