FIRST INTERNATIONAL PORTO CONGRESS OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Welcome to a World Heritage City

I have the pleasure of presenting to you the First International Porto Congress on Multiple Sclerosis, that will that will take place in Porto on January 28th and 29th, 2011.

Porto, is located in the north of Portugal and one of Europe’s oldest cities. In 1996 the city was elected World Heritage by Unesco. With its magnificent monuments and masterpieces of contemporary architecture, historical sites, romantic views and cruises up the Douro River, rich gastronomy, scents and flavours of the Port Wine cellars and its warm hospitality, the city is like its wine; Unique, Exquisite and Authentic.

This is why, I am proud to invite you to join us in Porto to participate in the Congress which will update our knowledge and during which we will also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the MS Clinic of Hospital S. João! This is an event worthy of our patients !

The scientific program has been carefully prepared in order to discuss where we are today and where we expect to be in the future with regard to two key topics in the field of MS and other demyelinating diseases: etiopathogenesis and new therapies. A panel of renowned speakers from different MS centres in different countries, will, we are certain, lead to an excellent exchange of expertise. There will be courses focusing on MS in daily clinical practice and poster presentations. There will also be a conference devoted to the historical development of the city in the XIX century when Charcot first described the disease.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to Porto.

Yours sincerely,

Maria José Sá
