Algarve
ALGARVE – THE SOUTHERN REGION OF PORTUGAL ON TWO OCEANS AND PROTECTED BY MOUNTAINS
Different environments characterize the Algarve, a region full of hidden villages, walking trails in the mountains, remote deserted beaches, golf courses (considered among the best in Europe), and wonderful gastronomy typified by delicious seafood freshly fished every day.
The region is blessed with short winters and warm long dry summers and, every year, welcomes many thousands of tourists from all over the world. During summertime the Algarve is one of the most visited areas in Portugal, both by foreign tourists and Portuguese nationals many of which have summer homes there. Because of this, it is one of Portugal’s most developed regions.
During winter the Algarve becomes more peaceful as the number of tourists and vacationing nationals diminish.
