Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and honour to host the VI World Congress of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology, on June 18 – 20, 2008, in Lisbon.

We will convene in the magnificent Centro Cultural de Belém, built by the famous architects Gregotti and Manuel Salgado, to welcome the first Portuguese Presidency of the European Union since 1992. This centre is located close to the Tagus River, close to the Jerónimos Monastery and in front of the Torre de Belém, a jewel in the "Manuelino" style. The tower was built on the beach from where Vasco da Gama and his fleet of caravelas sailed to discover the New World - an appropriate place to explore and to become acquainted with the modern techniques of cosmetic dermatology.

Let us be inspired by the innovative mindset of our 15th century forefathers and share our experiences in this exciting new field of dermatology for the benefit of our patients. We have an ambitious scientific program from which we hope that each participant will be able to find something useful for his or her practice.

With its old alleys and buildings, Lisbon is, at the same time, a modern European capital with many attractions for the delegates and their families. We also hope you will enjoy our gastronomy and hospitality.
